Brought to life by local musician Dane Rousay, whose unique drumming in bands like The Freebiez, Baby Bangs, Jejune Stars and More Eaze has garnered them regional praise, Contemporary Whatever is a monthly experimental performance series featuring local and touring artists who usually don’t subscribe to any mainstream genre of music. This month’s offering showcases the cello looping effects of Emilio Alvarez, Rick Weaver performing something called avant karaoke, and self-described experimental dream-thrashers Porridge Fist, who sort of sound exactly how they describe themselves: thrash metal, dreamy reverberation, it’s all there.
