The biggest name in ridesharing is muscling in on San Antonio’s market for rentable scooters and bikes.
Uber today announced it has expanded JUMP, its dockless electric bike and scooter service, into San Antonio. That means users will be able to access its e-bikes and e-scooters with the same app they use to hail and pay for Uber car rides.
The $2.95 billion transportation giant launched its foray into first electric bikes in San Francisco last February. Since then, it’s acquired JUMP and unveiled plans to provide so-called “last mile” transportation in 16 other U.S. cities, including Dallas and Austin.
In other words, those enjoy whipping around downtown on rented electric rides now have another choice, while the rest of us have yet another brand of e-scooter to step over as we traverse the sidewalks.
