Three female gorillas from Zoo Atlanta have landed in the Alamo City as part of the San Antonio Zoo’s highly anticipated Congo Falls exhibit.

Andi, Merry and Anaka, all western lowland gorillas, were relocated to San Antonio as part of the Gorilla Species Survival Plan, marking the first time the San Antonio site has housed gorillas in more than three decades.

“Welcoming Andi, Merry and Anaka is incredibly special for our team and community,” San Antonio Zoo President and CEO Tim Morrow said in a statement. “Each one brings her own personality and hopes for gorilla conservation.”

Visitors can meet Andi, Merry and Anaka starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, when the two-acre Congo Falls exhibit will finally open to the public. The $30 million exhibit features three distinct habitats, overhead trails and an indoor viewing area, giving guests glimpse into the lives of these primates.

More information about the opening of Congo Falls is available at the San Antonio Zoo’s website
