Frescoes and murals have decorated walls of structures across the Mediterranean for centuries, but they’re not exactly a fixture in the Mediterranean-style homes that have become popular in the U.S.
However, the owners of a 3,700-square-foot Mediterranean home listed for sale in San Antonio’s Oak Hills area decided to add artistic flourishes to their property by adding no fewer than five murals to its walls.
In the dining room, the hand-painted creations include images of a molcajete surrounded by vegetables and a separate one of a Mediterranean courtyard.
Meanwhile flowering trees are painted on either side of a fireplace in the master bedroom, and a sprawling mural of a balcony overlooking a valley decorates a wall overlooking the backyard swimming pool. A pair of dolphins are painted on the bottom of the pool itself.
Beyond the quirky artistic touches, the four-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bath dwelling also includes “mature trees” and “graceful back terrace.” It’s listed for $680,000 following a recent $39,000 price drop.
