UT-San Antonio’s School of Dentistry ranks among the nation’s 10 best schools of its type, according to a new Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research study.
The Alamo City campus landed at No. 9 on the list, making it the only Texas dental school to crack the top 10. Next closest was the UT Health Science Center in Houston, which slid in at No. 18.
“This is the second time we have reached the top 10, and our goal is to be in the top five,” UT-San Antonio School of Dentistry Associate Dean for Research Brij Singh said in a statement. “While rankings are only one metric of success, this gives us confidence that our research enterprise is moving in the right direction.”
The Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research study uses National Institutes of Health funding data to compile its rankings. This year’s top three schools are the University of California-San Francisco, the University of Southern California and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
“Ranking among the top 10 nationally is an extraordinary achievement for our School of Dentistry,” UT-San Antonio School of Dentistry Dean Kenneth Hargreaves said in a statement. “It reflects the innovation of our investigators and our commitment to advancing oral health research that improves overall health and quality of life.”
