Attendees enjoy game play at the FORGE Scholastic Esports Championship.

The FORGE Scholastic Esports Championship is expanding the mission of its annual competition held at San Antonio’s Boeing Center at Tech Port.

This year’s event, held the weekend of May 15-17 and targeted to collegiate and grade-school esports competitors, aims to connect their play to educational and professional growth, according to organizers. Integrating Rally Cry’s FORGE program, the gathering will help students with studies, professional ambitions and leadership.

Along with the daily agenda of competitions, career panels will be available to students, and an esports professional development seminar is available to San Antonio educators, according to tournament officials.

Matches will 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily, featuring teams and players from a variety of collegiate, high school and middle school leagues. The leagues include the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the Electronic Gaming Federation, the National Esports Collegiate Conference and the San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology’s R20 league.

Each match will be located on the Boeing Center at Tech Port’s stages. Anyone can attend the matches for free, or watch broadcasts of the events. A full list of matches, time and locations is available on eventbrite.

Tickets aren’t limited to viewership, either. The event will host open Super Smash Bros. tournaments, arcade machines, free play PCs, Nintendo Switch setups and drone soccer matches, according to organizers.
