Americana icon Steve Earle grew up in San Antonio and, according to local legend, held Vietnam anti-war protests in front of the Alamo. Earle hasn’t relented on his calls for justice and human rights. The Montvales, Nathan Evans Fox, Nick Garza’s Get Along
Tennessee’s the Montvales craft moving, stripped-down Americana featuring tight female vocal harmonies and an earnest, heartwarming sound. Nathan Evans Fox, also from Tennessee, performs modern folk music with an independent, DIY-style approach and a similarly worn-in aesthetic. LA’s Spike Hellis makes experimental body music, combining straight-up electro-clash rhythmic backing with elements of noise. FLOATS, Famous Friend, The Citie, Pet Peeves
San Antonio native Mark Perez started FLOATS as a solo project in 2017, the raw summation of his indie and punk influences. Now based in LA and augmented with other musicians, FLOATS has been touring since 2022. Royal Coda
This Sacramento, California-based post-hardcore supergroup exudes obvious Dance Gavin Dance influences because it includes former members of that band.
