Thankfully, thoughtful updates to the property have righted past wrongs.
“The good things have been kept,” realtor Laura Berg Hodge said of the three-bedroom, two-bath dwelling. “It probably had a lot of green shag carpet, and I’m sure a lot of funky cool things happened there that we don’t want to know about.”
Built in 1969, the house near MacArthur Park has many of the classic features Mid-Century Modern homes are known for, including terrazzo flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows and an open kitchen and living room space. A breezeway adds privacy and architectural interest at the entrance.
Hell, the home is so midcentury that even the two-car garage has skylights and vaulted ceilings.
The standalone Malm fireplace, found in the sun room, is original to the house, though it was relocated from the main living area at some point. The current owner also put in new flooring to cover up a treacherous step upon entry, which might spell disaster after one too many martinis.
