With a name that references its location at the meeting point of the San Antonio River and the San Pedro Creek, Confluence Park smartly rises from a city-owned lot formerly used to store construction vehicles.

Commissioned by the San Antonio River Foundation (SARF) and designed by Lake | Flato Architects, Matsys, and Rialto Studio, the park features an education center with an eco-friendly roof, gardens dedicated to native plants, a dramatic, 30-foot-tall concrete pavilion that doubles as a massive water catchment system, and easy access to hiking, biking and kayaking along the Mission Reach.

On Saturday, the San Antonio River Authority joins SARF for the unveiling of the “landmark project where culture, education, ecology and recreation meet.”

Free, 11am-12:30pm, Confluence Park, 310 W. Mitchell St., (210) 224-2694, confluencepark.sariverfound.org.
