The Eastside is getting boozier with the grand opening of Alamo Distilling Co. on September 23.

The distillery, which moved from its original location near the airport to 621 Chestnut St. Opened by church friends Noel Burns and Daniel Taylor in 2015, Alamo Distilling Co. is known for its Texas Craft Whiskey, available in more than 300 stores statewide and more than 100 bars across San Antonio.

The move means more space to experiment for Burns, a chemist. With more than 7,000 square feet of space, 3,000 of which will be used for production and 1,500 or so designated for an air conditioned tasting room and offices. The new tasting room will accommodate 30 to 4o souls for distillery tours and tastings.

As we reported in May, the new the Texas Craft whiskey, aged using live oak inside plastic barrels, is rich in character and surprisingly smooth (Though his careful distillation methods, Burn is able to rid the spirit of any harsh alcohol burn). Their Texas Moonshine is gaining followers, and the Texas rum is just as playful. The prices are also low for industry standards — $20 for the rum, $35 for the whiskey. A $45 bourbon was launched recently, and a "tequila clone" is in the works for 2018.

The grand opening will take place September 23 from 2 to 10 p.m. with free tastings and tours of the facility. Alamo Bourbon, Alamo Craft Whiskey, Alamo Rum, and Alamo Dark Rum will be available for purchase (limit two bottles per person).

621 Chestnut St., (210) 325-7853.
