San Antonio’s Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center has opened submissions for the Teatro Salón Table Reading Series.

The series allows Texas playwrights to test out their work and receive constructive criticism from their peers and the public via a well-rehearsed open stage reading, according to organizers. The deadline to submit unproduced scripts is 4 p.m. March 31.

The Guadalupe will select a pool of two to three scripts from the submissions for a reading in the August-September time frame. To date, the series has culminated in two full theatrical productions: La Niña Girasol by J. Cesar Duenas (June 2022) and Las Comadres de Morales Street by Irene Chavez (March 2025).

The call is open to all established and non-established writers in the Lone Star State. While writers of all genres are welcome to submit scripts, the theme must reflect the Latinx, Chicanx or Tejano experience.

To submit a script, please include a cover letter with title, playwright’s name and short bio, contact information, a brief synopsis and character descriptions to Jorge Piña, GCAC Theater Arts Director, 723 S. Brazos St, San Antonio, TX 78207 or jorgep@guadalupeculturalarts.org. No phone inquiries, please.
