The San Antonio Botanical Garden and Chipotle have been hosting a outdoor film series that bring awareness and hopefully make a difference in the way Americans think about environmental issue. More Than Honey explores the dismal reality that we are losing our vitally important honey bees at an increasing rate.
The loss of bee colonies is very crucial to the world at large especially for us humans since we have a very strong symbiotic relationship. The documentary also mentions the idea if we are able to pollinate plants ourselves, but that is complicated since many fruit trees require cross pollination that can only be done through bees. It's also complicated because we would need a large amount of pe
ople who would be willing to work long hours in the orchards.
There are many speculations as to why bees are abandoning ship or disappearing from the face of the Earth since no bee corpses are ever found. Many scientist believe it's because the industrialization of beekeeping or the overuse of pesticides. In the end we need to make sure that our little helpers do not die on us completely, because thereafter it would be our turn.
