In his recent book A Hollywood Ending: The Dreams and Drama of the LeBron Lakers, author Yaron Weitzman offers a compelling overview of LeBron James’ tenure with the Los Angeles, which the Spurs are scheduled to face Wednesday night.
Weitzman describes the Lakers’ 2020 championship in the NBA bubble as the peak of the LeBron era. Highlights such as winning the inaugural NBA cup and surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league’s all-time leading scorer came in the midst of front office dysfunction and coaching changes, according to the author.
When the Spurs last faced their longtime rivals, Luka Doncic led the Lakers with 35 points, and James finished the night with 19 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists in a 132-119 loss. It was a team win for the Spurs, with seven players in double figures, including a season high 30 points from Stephon Castle along with 20 points from De’Aaron Fox.
Expect another strong showing from San Antonio’s stellar backcourt as the Spurs look to defend home court before returning to the road, with stops in Boston, Minnesota and Oklahoma City.
