The Beatles’ acclaimed animated movie Yellow Submarine (1968), newly restored and with 5.1 Dolby sound, will be shown in San Antonio for two days only: 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 and Tuesday, May 22 at selected Santikos theaters (see info below).
The film, which was restored frame-by-frame, will be out on DVD and Blu-ray on May 28 and has liner notes by John Lasseter, chief of Disney/Pixar studios (Toy Story).
“As a fan of animation and as a filmmaker, I tip my hat to the artists of Yellow Submarine, whose revolutionary work helped pave the way for the fantastically diverse world of animation that we all enjoy today,” Lassiter wrote in the liner notes.
