Those looking for a piece of Hollywood history could be in for a treat this weekend.
The estate sale for the late and iconic Hollywood actress Shelley Duvall is taking place at her ranch in nearby Blanco, Texas.
The sale promises all kinds of memorabilia from the storied career of one of the most singular starlets in Tinseltown history, according to a listing for the event. It will take place at Duvall’s ranch, 404 Red Bud Trail, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
Duvall set herself apart in Hollywood by playing fragile, unique and often quirky characters in some of the best-known and most-lauded movies of the ’70s and ’80s, including Woody Allen’s Annie Hall and Stanley Kubrick’s haunting depiction of a descent into madness at the Overlook Hotel in the masterpiece The Shining. She also leaned into her gangly figure and awkward demeanor in roles such as Olive Oyl in Robin Williams’ Popeye.
Duvall was born in Fort Worth and raised in Houston, but destiny took her to Los Angeles. After a 1994 earthquake, she relocated from California to her home state of Texas, settling at the Blanco ranch with her menagerie of pets. Duvall’s later years were plagued by mental health issues and a retreat from public life, including her acting career.
This weekend’s estate sale is a glimpse into what seemingly became a refuge for Duvall, surrounded by precious artifacts and beloved animals, before her passing in July 2024.
“We’re honored to present the personal collection of celebrated actress and producer Shelley Duvall (1949-2024) at this 2-day estate tag sale at the Blanco, Texas-area ranch home where she spent her final years, featuring memorabilia from her iconic Hollywood career, along with her extensive library of books, large collection of vintage clothing, personal effects, several large bird cages, and selected decorative pieces from her home,” the estate sale listing says.
Everything purchased will come with a Certificate of Authenticity to affirm it as a piece of Duvall’s personal estate.
“Don’t miss your chance to see a piece of Hollywood history at this beautiful Texas Hill Country ranch,” the listing adds.
