There's a new bourbon in town. Nick Spink, who opened Artisan on Alamo Distillery on 8th St. in 2016, is now dabbling in darker spirits.
Spink opened with Spike Vodka, made using cactus paddles, and has added Texas Pride Vodka, an award-winning corn-based vodka, and Chupacabra Juice Moonshine, an ultra-smooth corn mash moonshine to his repertoire since then, but the latest addition will keep bourbon and whiskey drinkers happy.
"The toughest part was finding a recipe I liked and tweaking it," Spink said.
Bexar Ridge, produced on site and hand-labeled by Spink himself, means whiskey-based drinks are finally on the menu. Spink has added an Old Fashioned, a Bexar Sour, a Alamo with Campari and vermouth, and a Boss with Bexar Ridge Bourbon and Amaretto, all priced at $8.50.
The new spirit launch will take place through Saturday night with the tasting room open from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Bottles ($20) are available for purchase from 5 to 9 p.m. only.
