Despite the White House’s best efforts to destroy goodwill with our nation’s northern neighbor, Canadian institution Tim Horton’s continues to expand its reach inside the U.S.
The popular Canadian donuts-and-coffee chain will open its first San Antonio this summer on the far North Side.
The Alamo City’s inaugural Tim Horton’s will be located at 2919 N. Loop 1604 East inside Redland Plaza, state regulator filings show. The development is currently home to a Cheba Hut location, a Bourbon Street Seafood Kitchen, bubble tea spot Gong Cha and Encore Bar & Grill.
Construction on the new Tim Horton’s is slated to wrap up in June, documents filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show. The company hasn’t revealed a grand opening date as of press time.
Essentially synonymous with present-day Canadian culture, the chain was founded by hockey player Tim Horton in 1964. The brand has since expanded beyond its roots, adding nearly a thousand U.S. locations to the roughly 4,000 spread across Canada.
Tim Horton’s menu items range from Timbits (its take on bite-sized donut holes) and classic pastries to bagels and savory lunch items.
The chain currently has Texas locations in Austin, Bryan and the greater Houston area.
