
Fast-casual chain Captain D’s Seafood Kitchen its casting its net into the San Antonio market for the first time.
The Nashville-based company will opening its first restaurant here in early summer at 7531 Bandera Road, Suite 101, a company spokeswoman confirmed. San Antonio residents Dave Peters, Brian Clemens and Ruben Cardenas will operate the franchise.
The franchisees are expected to open two more local units, according to the spokeswoman, who asked not to be named. However, she declined to offer a timetable for the additional openings, saying the company plans to reveal further details closer to the first store’s opening.
The Bandera Road store will mark the domestic debut of a refreshed interior design from Captain D’s, including a a “fresh new color palette” and “family friendly vibe,” she added.
The 56-year-old chain is known for serving up budget-priced fried seafood from shrimp baskets and fish sandwiches to family meal packages. It’s also branched out into healthier options including grilled salmon and steamed broccoli.
Since its launch, the Captain D’s has opened 500 restaurants across 23 states, according to its website. The majority are franchise stores.
Construction is expected to start in April for the 2,100-square-foot San Antonio restaurant, which has a construction cost of $600,000, records filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation show.
