Texas entrepreneurs once again have the chance to get their products onto H-E-B’s shelves as Texas’ dominant grocery chain launches its 13th annual H-E-B Quest for Texas Best.
Submissions for the competition opened March 11 and run through April 22, allowing Texas-based makers to compete for $100,000 in prize money and the possibility of seeing their products sold in H-E-B stores statewide.
The grocer will review entries and select finalists who will present their products to a panel of judges this October in San Antonio. Judges will choose four winners, awarding $50,000 and the title of “Texas Best” to the grand prize recipient, along with placement on H-E-B store shelves. Additional prizes include $25,000 for first place, $15,000 for second place and $10,000 for third.
Over the past decade, the competition has highlighted more than 1,000 Texas-made products in food and non-food categories, according to H-E-B officials. The chain has also reviewed more than 7,000 product submissions and awarded nearly $3 million in prize money, along with marketing and mentorship support for participating businesses.
To help applicants prepare, H-E-B will host informational sessions with sourcing leaders on March 18, April 8, April 15 and April 21. Registration is required. Entrepreneurs interested in entering can review competition requirements and register online through the Quest for Texas Best program website.
