A year after making its San Antonio debut at the Shops at La Cantera, Dallas’ La La Land Kind Cafe is making plans for a second location closer toward the city center.
The chain of brightly themed coffee shops filed to develop a spot in the Shops at Lincoln Heights, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. The 1,259 square-foot space will be located at 999 E Basse Road, Suite 120. Work on the $280,000 cafe space will begin May 11, the filings show. The expected completion date is Aug. 31.
Company officials were unavailable for immediate comment on the filing.
La La Land Kind Cafe operates 30 locations across the country, serving a variety of lattes, coolers and signature toasts, such as the “M.A.K.A. Toast” and “Truffle Burrata Toast,” according to its website. Along with drinks and snacks, the locations sell merchandise such as coffee mugs and T-shirts, while offering floor-to-ceiling windows and Instagrammable surroundings.
The chain also has a larger mission: helping foster youths get job training and other support to transition into adulthood. The company offers paid internships for children in the foster care system, while also providing interns with housing assistance, mental health support and other services.
