Just four years shy of being a century-old property, New Braunfels’ Faust Hotel will reopen in spring 2026 with new culinary offerings following a multimillion-dollar top-to-bottom renovation.
The boutique property — which debuted as The Traveler’s Hotel in 1929 and now operates under the Lark Hospitality flag — will make its grand return with 45 rooms, a 2,000-square-foot grand ballroom and nine junior suites, according to details its owners shared Tuesday.
From a food and beverage standpoint, the revamped hotel will feature a new full-service Texas brasserie dubbed Wilhelm & Werner and a prohibition-style basement speakeasy called Walter’s. It also will boast an upgraded Prince Solms lobby bar and a fully refreshed Magnolia Patio.
While the Faust’s makeover is extensive, its team remains dedicated to staying true to its original, now historic, design, the owners said. The property is an officially recognized local, Texas, and national historic landmark.
“This hotel means a great deal to the people of New Braunfels and we have been working diligently to bring The Faust up to modern standards for future generations,” owner Andy Duettra said in an official statement. “We look forward to opening our doors soon.”
The design team has added modern updates to the Faust’s original Spanish Colonial Revival style aesthetic, with the ground floor retaining multiple original design details including the original doors, phone booth, sconces, the floor and stairway tiles and the exterior fountain, according to Duettra.
The Faust is located at 240 S. Seguin Ave. in Central New Braunfels.
