The New York Times on Tuesday named Isidore at San Antonio’s Pullman Market to its latest 50 Best Restaurants in America list.

Isidore, which focuses on foods native to Texas, is the only Alamo City dining spot to land on the list and one of just four from the Lone Star State to earn a spot.

In the piece, New York Times food writer Priya Krishna praised Isadore as an “adventure in foraging dressed in fancy attire.”

“The chef Ian Lanphear, known for hosting pop-ups rooted in foraged food, isn’t just interested in showing off the bounty of the state, but also presenting it in surprising ways,” Krishna added. “Mesquite beans are cooked down to a syrup and whipped with butter to make a sweet condiment that dazzles whatever it touches (including the bread, which is excellent). The Wagyu steak, from Texas cows prized for their intermuscular fat, is as sumptuous as you’d expect. But the real prize is an elegant dish of yuba made of milk from a nearby farm that’s stuffed with fresh cheese and cooked in cream — it looks like ethereal ravioli and tastes like heaven.”

Named after the patron saint of agriculture, Isidore is one of four restaurants Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group operate in the Pullman Market, the 53,000-square-foot upscale culinary destination at the Pearl. Isidore was also named a 2025 Best New Restaurant by Texas Monthly earlier this year.

The three other Texas restaurants to make the cut are Houston’s ChopnBlok, which specializes in West African food, and Southeast Asian eateries Lao’d Bar and P Thai’s Khao Man Gai & Noodles, both in Austin.
