Pastiche co-owner Benjamin Pratt told the Current the satellite drinking spot will be located inside sports bar Tap Rack Social, 18402 U.S. Hwy 281 North, Suite 114, another concept he operates with Pastiche partner Aubrey Lewis along with Bernardo Baxter.
Daniel Pittman also serves as co-owner of Pastiche along with Pratt and Lewis. Original co-founder Benjamin Krick, who established the cocktail destination at 1506 E. Houston St., remains on as a minority partner.
Inspired by France’s Belle Epoque era — a cultural revival that gave rise to the Eiffel Tower — Pastiche gained a following for evoking a cozy Parisian bar inside a Dignowity Hill cottage. The spot’s Old World-style ambience helped it gain a reputation as both a date-night destination and a neighborhood gathering spot.
Like the original, Pastiche’s sister bar will focus on high-end wine and cocktails, although it will boast a “different theme” Pratt wants to keep under wraps until the grand opening draws near.
“It’ll be a speakeasy concept,” he said, adding he wants to open by the time the Final Four basketball tournament arrives in April.
Pratt, who’s active duty Air Force, and Lewis, who retired from the same branch, also run On Tap Collective, an organization dedicated to empowering young entrepreneurs in San Antonio.
An entertainment venue with a full bar and pizza from Mattenga’s, Tap Rack Social’s original location in far North San Antonio offers virtual golf and shooting bays available to rent during business hours.
In addition to opening a new Pastiche, Pratt said he’s also expanding Tap Rack. A second location of that concept is expected to debut in Cibolo this fall, he added.
Pratt added that his team also plans to franchise Pastiche and Tap Rack, in that order.
“We hear from a lot of out-of-town guests that they didn’t expect to find a bar like Pastiche in San Antonio,” Pratt said. “Because there’s been so much interest, and based on customer feedback, we think it’s time.”
