East-of-downtown staple Estate Coffee Co. is one of the country’s 10 highest-rated independent coffee shops, according to a new study from online small-business lending platform OnDeck.
After analyzing TripAdvisor reviews for independently owned coffee shops in major U.S. cities, OnDeck ranked Estate Coffee, 1320 E Houston Street, ninth on its list. The coffee roaster also ranked as second-best in Texas based on its reviews.
Estate Coffee racked up an average 4.8-star rating out of TripAdvisor’s maximum rating of five.

Estate Coffee’s menu offers an array of java junkie favorites, including espressos, cappuccinos and lattes. The spot also pours specialty drinks, including a Coffee Old Fashioned, a Honey Lavender Latte and a Cold Brew Shandy — all at prices lower than Starbucks.
In OnDeck’s study, The Espresso Bar at Taos Valley Lodge took home top honors with an average TripAdvisor rating of 4.93 stars. Prestogeorge Coffee & Tea in Pittsburgh took the No. 2 spot with average 4.9-star rating,
Arlington’s Iris Bagel and Coffee House in Arlington, which came in at third with 4.86 stars, was the only other Texas shop to make the top 10.
