A new, turquoise-hued restaurant with a menu developed by chef Enrique Lozano, a former winner of the Food Network show Chopped, will bring coastal Mexican flavors to Balcones Heights.

A project months in the making. Aguazul Seafood, 2831 NW Loop 410, is set for a mid-February launch, according to details shared by its owners. However, they didn’t give an exact date for the debut of the restaurant, located near Wonderland of the Americas Mall.

Aguazul Seafood’s menu will feature signature spins on classic ceviches, aguachiles, oyster platters, shrimp tacos and more. And, yes, the restaurant will serve margaritas.

Lozano, a James Beard Award nominee, helmed well-reviewed El Charlatan Taqueria y Ramen-ya, a Mexican-Japanese fusion restaurant outside El Paso that closed in late 2023. The Food Network frequent flyer also put in an appearance on Beat Bobby Flay and has experience in Michelin-level kitchens, according to Aguazul Seafood’s owners.

The seafood spot joins a raft of new concepts making early-2025 debuts in San Antonio. Other new restaurants and bars also slated to open early this year include Elsewhere Too, Adair Kitchen, the Lion & Rose at the Dominion and Merci Jones on Broadway.
