The Taco Truck Throwdown Is Hosting a Call for Trucks

As the city gears up for the first ever Taco Fest at La Villita this Saturday, an OG celebration of all things taco truck is back once more.

The eighth annual Taco Truck Throwdown is back at VFW Post 76 on Sunday, May 27, noon to 8 p.m. with $1 al pastor tacos from noon to 4 p.m. and more items served from each truck at different prices (truck's discretion).

The throwdown is holding a call for trucks to participate in the event, where a Grand Champion is chosen based on each trucks’ tacos al pastor and a Freestyle category winner is chosen based on a taco entry of the contestants’ choice. Entries in both categories are scored by local celebrity judges and the People’s Choice winner is chosen through text voting during the event.

The event serves as one of the biggest fundraisers for the VFW Post 76 Veteran Relief Fund.

Interested truck owners can check out rules and an application to participate at tacotruckthrowdownsa.com.
