It was a banner year for San Antonio’s culinary scene — but, sadly, also a year of losses.
From James Beard accolades to the city’s first Michelin Guide nods, the Alamo City made big news as it continued to come up in the high-end foodie world.
But not all of the news was great. San Antonio restaurants and bars also made headlines for some pretty wild reasons, like a purported real-life Gus Fring getting busted on charges that he trafficked cocaine at his chicken shack. And who can forget beloved tamal-maker Delia’s being raided by the FBI?
We also lost a number of community staples, like Jim’s locations, several breweries and Cajun restaurant Acadiana. On that note, maybe “support more local restaurants” isn’t a bad new year’s resolution.
