Not that we have any problem with the genre of contemporary Christian music – we know some of y’all like to get your Jesus on and that’s fine – we just don’t have a ton of big names coming through San Antonio (besides folks like rapper Lecrae, who’s music could easily pass for “non-Christian” music), so we don’t really mention them here too often.
Anyway, if you’ve ever been scrolling through radio stations and happened to land on a Christian station at least once in our life (especially in the early-aughts), you most likely heard the triple-platinum MercyMe hit “I Can Only Imagine.”
Yup, triple platinum, y’all. The song is actually still #9 in iTunes Top 40 Contemporary Christian songs, which could be due to the fact that the just released a best-of compilation aptly titled I Can Only Imagine – The Very Best of MercyMe.
Most likely touring in support of the compilation, catch these dudes at the Freeman Coliseum on Sunday October 14.
$57-$694, Sun Oct 14, 7:30pm, Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E. Houston St., attcenter.org.
