Released early this year and highlighted by the March 2 edition of this weekly blog, The Chainsmokers' hit song "#SELFIE" has been described as both "garbage, paint-by-numbers EDM" and "shit-white-girls-say-meets-a-club-remix." Viral from the get-go thanks in part to a video packed with celebrity cameos (Snoop Dogg, Pete Tong, Steve Aoki and David Hasselhoff, to name a few), the track has been treated to a hyper-local reinvention we found by accident on the
Rey Feo Consejo Educational Foundation's Facebook page (naturally). Reworked by
DJ Quake and performed by
La Prensa editor-in-chief Nina Duran, the "#SELFIE Fiesta Remix" touches on a variety of hallmarks of parade season—including crowds,
chanclas, churros, cover charges and chicken on a stick—and trades in the original refrain "Let me take a selfie" for "Let me eat a taco."
