John Henry Kirkpatrick represented San Antonio in the Texas House of Representatives back in the 1890s, and in 1917, after his time in the Lege, built a home in the Westfort area, just south of Mahncke Park.
After a major restoration by an Alamo City-based house flipper, Kirkpatrick’s 4,300-square-foot home is now on the market with a $1.1 million price tag, according to a real estate listing that shows its interior augmented with modern touches including exposed shiplap and interior brick.
The listing describes the master suite in the five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath property as the “prize of this home,” and it’s easy to see why. The suite includes a 12-foot tall custom closet with a rolling library-style ladder, separate sleeping and sitting areas and French doors leading out to a private porch overlooking the backyard.
This home is listed by Thor Tripp with IH-10 Realty.
