Bonehead Quote of the Week: Rick Santorum On Comparing Obamacare 'Injustice' to Apartheid

In the wake of the devastating loss of  Nelson Mandela, one the world's most admired peace makers, both sides of the political aisle paid their respects to the late South African leader.

However, some conservatives took the opportunity to use his legacy of activism against racism as a chance to remind everyone of the great injustice that is affordable health care for all. Because, of course. During an appearance on Fox News' "The O’Reilly Factor," former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum drew a parallel between Mandela's fight against apartheid and the Republican battle against the Affordable Act Act, reported Politico.

“He was fighting against some great injustice, and I would make the argument that we have a great injustice going on right now in this country with an ever-increasing size of government that is taking over and controlling people’s lives — and Obamacare is front and center in that,” said the former U.S. Senator to O'Reilly. 

Nelson, South Africa's first black president spent his life fighting decades of institutional racial segregation– the disenfranchisement, forced uprooting and ghettoization of blacks and other non-white minorities. Obamacare? Uh, apartheid it is not.
