Sebastian Thuriere can probably hit the crossbar. Can you?
There are some athletic feats that I, while sitting on my couch, watch and think "I could probably do that."
Making over 6o percent of my free throws is one (
what's up DeAndre Jordan?).
Curling is another. But kicking a soccer ball with any semblance of accuracy is not among those activities.
You might be different from me though, and actually have some acumen for the beautiful game. If that's the case, here's an opportunity for you: San Antonio FC will hold the Copa 100 Crossbar Challenge on Wednesday, April 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at STAR Soccer Complex (5103 David Edwards Dr.).
The challenge is simple — you get one chance to kick a soccer ball and hit the crossbar of a goal. Anyone who succeeds gets a ticket to SAFC's match against the Tulsa Roughnecks on Saturday, April 30, and is entered into a drawing to win tickets to
Copa America Centenario, this summer's tournament featuring 16 national teams from the Americas.
The tournament will be held in the United States for the first time in its 100-year history. It will take place in 10 cities around the country, including Houston.
Wednesday's challenge is free and open to the public.
