People who live near billionaire Trump crony Elon Musk have started filing complaints at city council meetings in the Austin suburb where he lives, alleging he’s engaged in un-neighborly behavior, the New York Times reports.
Residents of the ritzy West Lake Hills area aren’t taking kindly to their new neighbor, who moved into a 6,900-square-foot mansion behind a 16-foot chain-link fence with a keypad-activated gate, according to the paper.
At first, neighbors didn’t know who was throwing the wild parties in the massive fortress, the Times reports. Even the fleet of Teslas parking on their streets daily wasn’t initially a dead giveaway. However, through word of mouth, they eventually figured out that it was none other than the DOGEfather himself.
Now, residents are showing up at West Lake Hills council meetings and vocalizing their displeasure, citing zoning ordinances and permits. Complaints have been loud enough to warrant inclusion of Musk’s house in a Zoning and Planning Commission meeting last month.
The Musk mansion debate will continue at the council’s Wednesday, May 14, meeting.
“Transporting service employees to other houses, leaving their cars on our quiet streets, hauling laundry to and fro to other houses has to stop,” Paul Hemmer, a Musk neighbor and the main complainant, wrote to the Zoning and Planning Commission in a letter signed by two other residents and obtained by the Times.
In the article, the Times briefly revealed Musk’s address by linking to a court document. This represents a break in protocol for the Grey Lady, which is normally more discreet about exact addresses of the rich and famous.
The paper later removed the linked document after being questioned by The Intercept, which reported on the discovery. The lead image in the Times story also initially revealed exactly what the mansion looks like, though the paper later replaced that image as well.
But as anyone who knows about the Wayback Machine would say — too late!
