Days after an 8-month-old baby was kidnapped from a local gas station, San Antonio police, along with officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, are still searching for the baby.

Most recently, law enforcement officials are searching Rodriguez Park on the city’s West Side in search of King Jay Davila, the baby kidnapped from his father’s car Friday night. Christopher Davila left his son in the unlocked vehicle while making a purchase inside a convenience store.

The car was stolen from the store and found abandoned near the park without King Jay or his car seat. Police believe Davila is behind the kidnapping and arrested him on a child endangerment charge.

Authorities also said the baby’s family largely was uncooperative with the investigation. Chief William McManus said the child’s mother and Christopher Davila’s fiancé, Jasmine Gonzales, is distraught and “wants this thing closed yesterday.”

But Gonzales spoke to KSAT over the weekend and said McManus’ claim that the family isn’t cooperating is untrue.

“[The police] are the ones trying to push the issue, trying to get somebody to accuse somebody, to get that blame for that,” Gonzales told KSAT. “Instead of trying to get someone into prison, they need to worry about finding my son. That is what they need to do.”

The family formed a search party Sunday, searching for clues at Rodriguez Park. They found a baby bottle, though they are unsure it belongs to King Jay (Gonzales believes it does). Still, the discovery prompted authorities to conduct a “more thorough search.”

The latest update from police reveals that authorities have searched the park, including bodies of water there, but that King Jay still hasn’t been found. Some reports claimed a body was found at the park, but McManus told the Express-News this is false.

The search of the park comes after authorities released footage of a woman suspected of kidnapping King Jay. Gonzales said it appeared the woman was watching the car and drove away with it after Christopher Davila left the doors unlocked. Police have been unable to identify her and are asking the public for help.
