San Antonio’s Instagram set soon will have a new destination.

The owners of downtown’s Elsewhere Garden Bar will debut their latest concept this Saturday — Elsewhere Too, a sprawling six-acre expansion of the original concept at 4513 N. Loop 1604 West. The bar-slash-restaurant-slash-meetup spot will feature a 53-foot Ferris wheel, a greenhouse and a 15-foot flower tunnel.

The project has been three years in the making, according to co-owner Terrin Fuhrmann, and it builds on the whimsical atmosphere of the original Elsewhere, a similarly eclectic San Antonio River outpost that launched during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As the world opened back up, we were able to add new details to the original,” Fuhrmann told the Current. “Now we’re bringing that spirit here, on a much larger scale.”

In addition to the Ferris wheel and floral additions, the site incorporates two train cars donated by the San Antonio Zoo from Brackenridge Park, along with an expanded kitchen that allows for a broader food and drink menu.

Fuhrmann said his team is already cooking up plans to grow the menu following this weekend’s grand opening.

Guests can expect the same boozy lemonades, frozen margaritas and cocktails they get downtown, plus new offerings. Fuhrmann also teased future ideas he’s excited to implement at Elsewhere Too, such as a large-scale brunch activation fittingly titled “Brunch of Trouble.”

Keeping it cohesive with the original Elsewhere, Fuhrmann describes the new space as
“whimsical, mischievous and magical.” It’s best experienced after dark, he added, when illuminated installations bring the grounds to life.

“You have to see it at night — it’s truly magical,” he said.

Fuhrmann and his team used location data analytics from Placer AI to select the expansive
space.

“We saw a lot of our customers were already coming from here,” he said, adding that the intersection of I-10 and 1604 West also is emerging as an entertainment hub in its own right thanks to the presence of Top Golf, the Kung Fu Saloon and Andretti’s.

Looking forward, the Elsewhere team plans to keep building out the venue, eventually adding markets and large-scale events, including a “Down the Rabbit Hole”-style festival.

“We’re just getting started,” Fuhrmann said. “This is a space that will keep growing and evolving — and we want it to surprise people every time they come back.”
