Authorities have arrested a former Somerset Police Department detective after the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office accused him of assaulting a woman and threatening her if she told police, KSAT reports.
Alvaro Ramirez III, 37, was taken to jail Wednesday morning on charges of felony continuous family violence and misdemeanor terroristic threat of a family member, the TV station reports, citing jail records.
The arrest marks the second time since last spring that Ramirez has faced a family violence charge, according to KSAT. At the time of his most recent arrest, he was out on bond for a charge alleging that he injured a woman by dragging her up the stairs of a far West Side apartment complex, the station reports.
The alleged assault at the heart of Ramirez’s Wednesday’s arrest took place at the same apartments, KSAT reports, citing arrest records. According to the claims in arrest documents cited by the station, the woman involved in the latest incident contacted Bexar County deputies to report that a Jan. 10 argument with Ramirez over how to discipline her child ended with him striking her in the face and dragging her across the floor.
The woman also alleged that as she and the child fled the apartment Ramirez threatened her with injury if she contacted police, KSAT reports.
The defense attorney listed for Ramirez’s case from last year declined comment to the TV station, saying he was unaware of Wednesday’s arrest.
