The latest shark in ABC’s reality show Shark Tank has ties to San Antonio. Daniel Lubetzy lived in San Antonio and attended Trinity University before founding KIND Snacks, a health-food brand available nationwide.
Lubetsky joins the popular reality show as a replacement for Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who recently departed the show to spend more time with family.
Lubetzky is a Mexico City native who emigrated to the United States when he was 16 and is now a United States citizen, according to a report in the San Antonio Express-News.
Lubetzky received a bachelor’s degree in economics and international relations from Trinity University in 1990, graduating magna cum laude.
During his time at Trinity, Lubetzky created a watch company called Da’Leky Times.
“It taught me a ton about business and retail merchandising that has helped me throughout my career,” Lubetzky said in a Facebook post after visiting the campus in 2019.
Now, viewers throughout America will see Lubetzky’s business savviness on display as he and the other sharks let entrepreneurs court them as investors. Lubetzky made his debut as a shark on last Friday’s program.
