A new year is bringing a new look for the Grand Hyatt San Antonio River Walk hotel.
The ground-floor public spaces of the 1,003-room hotel next to the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center are getting a $9 million facelift for an early March debut.
Guests will be greeted by a redesigned lobby refreshed with a modern design for the check-in desks with dark wood accents and artful crystal chandeliers. A new bar dubbed the Tejas Lounge is going into the west end of the lobby and will serve up Texas spirits and light fare in a Mid-Century Modern décor space.
Bar Rojo is being replaced with a new Italian dining concept under the name Moda Fare. It will include a large bar, floor-to-ceiling windows for an airy space full of light and outdoor dining options on a patio with large televisions for sports and huge fans to keep the heat at bay.
As part of the remodel, the café Perks Coffee Shop will be replaced with a high-end coffee concept called Spoonful Provisions. Coffee from a variety of top roasters come across marble counters with a blue-tile backdrop.
Hotel management said the property will remain open during the changes and will be ready in time for the NCAA college basketball men’s and women’s March Madness tournaments.
