A historic mansion known as The Rosemont is for sale in Northwest San Antonio and it comes with a lot of history for the price tag of $2.3 million.

Originally part of the Denman Estate, the Rosemont was once considered positioned on the edge of Texas Hill Country before the city of San Antonio consumed and surrounded it.

The palatial estate was constructed in 1920 for Gilbert Denman Sr., attorney and former president of the State Board of Education. Upon his death, the mansion was left to his heir, philanthropist Gilbert Denman, Jr., according to The Rosemont’s website.

After his passing, the estate changed hands among several nonprofit organizations before ultimately being purchased by Family Educators Alliance of South Texas (FEAST), a group that supports SA’s homeschooling community.

The mansion now known as The Rosemont has since served as a venue for weddings, formal occasions and the nonprofit’s gala fundraisers.

Now, the jewel of Denman Park is ready to change hands yet again — either as a luxurious private residence or a continuation of its life as an event venue.

The 10-bedroom, nine-bathroom mansion has lovingly preserved and maintained its historic flair, from myriad grand columns on its exterior to the rich mahogany paneling of its 5,500-square-foot inner sanctum.

The property itself, a sprawling 7.74 acres, offers several outbuildings as well, including a guest house, an office, a garage (with a garage apartment), a greenhouse and a pavilion.

This home is listed by Sara Reimer with eXp Realty, LLC.
