National Poetry Month: Word Bop: Ted Joans Lives

Release Date: 2009-04-22

A National Poetry Month event honoring the words of Ted Joans. Joans was friends with Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, and has been considered the only black Beat Poet. Cathy Lee reads poetry with music by Richard Oppenheim, Jordan Pollard, and vocalist Gil Centeno. This looks to be an interesting event; don’t be shocked if you hear occasional scatting. $5, 8pm, Carmen’s de la Calle Café, 720 E. Mistletoe, (210) 737-8272.
