The owner of Trump Burger, a MAGA-themed food chain based in the Houston area, is facing deportation proceedings.

Officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirm that Roland Mehrez Beainy, originally from Lebanon, was arrested May 16 on an immigration fraud charge, the Fayette County Record reports. He’s accused trying to claim legal status after marrying a woman he allegedly doesn’t live with, according to the paper.

Department of Homeland Security officials told the Houston Chronicle that Beainy under investigation for defrauding the U.S. immigration system.

Beainy, 28, arrived in the United States in 2019 but failed to depart by the expiration of his non-immigrant visitor visa in February 2024, according statements from ICE officials cited by the Chronicle.

Despite his non-citizen status, Beainy opened a burger chain worshipping the commander-in-chief behind one of the most wide-sweeping and aggressive anti-immigrant crackdowns in U.S. history. And now the entrepreneur is being swept up, no matter whose team he’s on.

“Under the current administration, ICE is committed to restore integrity to our nation’s immigration system by holding all individuals accountable who illegally enter the country or overstay the terms of their admission,” ICE said in a statement about the arrest. “This is true regardless of what restaurant you own or political beliefs you might have.”
On June 13, an immigration judge granted Beainy’s request for bond while he undergoes deportation proceedings, according to news site Click2Houston. Beainy was arrested a few weeks after he opened his Houston location in April, the latest restaurant in the small chain that also includes stores in Kemah, Bellville and Flatonia.

As is to be expected, the chain’s menu is rife with attempts at political commentary, including the First Lady Burger, the Trump Tower and the Biden Burger, described as “1 oz. beef topped with old tomato and our oldest buns unavailable [sic].” The chain’s buns are even are branded with “TRUMP” to further drive home the message — though photos of the imprint often make it look more like “RUMP.”

Beainy is one of several owners of the Trump Burger chain, which was founded just as the president was exiting his first term in office. The company even shares Beainy’s inspiring immigration story on its “About” page:

“Trump Burger of Bellville was founded in 2020 by Roland Beainy, an entrepreneur who came to America with a vision: to serve great burgers with exceptional spirit. Inspired by his love of American culture and passion for quality food, Roland turned that idea into a full-blown burger experience. What began as one small-town burger joint has quickly become a themed roadside destination for travelers, locals, and burger lovers across Texas.”
