Attorneys representing Texas rapper Taymor “Tay-K” McIntyre said Thursday they will appeal the murder conviction he received last week for the 2017 slaying of San Antonio man Mark Anthony Saldivar.
McIntyre was accused of murdering Saldivar, a photographer who wanted to take publicity shots of him, six years ago in the parking lot of an Alamo City Chick-fil-A. The hip-hop artist was also accused to capital murder, but Bexar County jurors did’t find him guilty of that more serious charge.
“While Mr. McIntyre is relieved at the capital murder acquittal, he remains committed to seeking justice and will challenge the remaining conviction,” his defense attorney, John T. Hunter, said in a statement.
McIntyre is already serving a 55-year sentence for another murder conviction. Prior to going on trial for the killing of Saldivar, a Tarrant County court found the rapper guilty of slaying 21-year-old Ethan Walker in a Tarrant County home invasion.
