An elegant Alamo Heights home previously owned by Kathleen Lane Luby, the late wife of the founder of the iconic Luby’s cafeteria chain, was listed a week ago for $1.95 million.

The property originally hit the market in February of last year with a $2.5 million price tag.

The three-bedroom, five-bath residence spans almost 6,000 square feet, and it’s located across the street from the exclusive Argyle Club. Its sales listing describes the garden home — which features an updated kitchen along with roomy living areas — as “perfect for entertaining.”

The property’s location across from the Argyle Club is fitting since it was built in the 1970s by San Antonio philanthropists Betty and Lew Moorman. Betty Moorman rescued the Argyle property from demolition and oversaw its transformation into a exclusive dining spot for Alamo City’s power brokers.

Kathleen Lane Luby, who died in 2021, was the widow of the late Robert Luby, who founded the beloved Texas cafeteria chain that bore his name in 1947.

This home is listed by Phyllis Browning with Phyllis Browning Co.
