Federal authorities accuse a 24-year-old man of pointing a laser at a news helicopter in late October 2015.
The FBI arrested Christopher B. Evans Thursday evening after a grand jury indicted him on the allegations.
A local television news helicopter reported the incident, which happened near the airport.
According to the FBI, San Antonio ranks in the top 15 cities in the country for laser strikes, which can blind pilots and jeopardize lives.
Evans faces up to five years in prison and a max fine of $250,000.
