After years of construction, the Texas Department of Transportation this week confirmed that two new flyover ramps are set to open on one of the North Side’s highest-traffic areas.

The ramps will connect drivers traveling eastbound on I-10 to direct access to both eastbound and westbound Loop 1604. The ramps will open at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, TxDOT said in a tweet.

“Smoother, safer commutes ahead,” the state agency said.

The ramps are part of the massive I-10/Loop 1604 project. Once completed, the project will include a fully directional, five-level interchange. The finished project is expected to decrease travel times by 80 mins while increasing capacity and access to HOV lanes, according to TxDOT’s website.

The ramps will be the seventh set of flyovers TxDot opened at the site, with the final expected to be completed next year.
