Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai and the top contender for his job, former San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, will face off in a debate next month.
The Democratic primary debate between the two rivals will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Stable Hall, 307 Pearl Parkway. The event is being put on by the San Antonio Report, the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and Tech Bloc.
Tickets, now available on the Chamber’s website, are free for those who register in advance.
Incumbent Sakai, who’s held the county’s top office since 2023, is running on a platform of regional growth, making the local justice system more efficient and closing the digital divide, according to his campaign website.
Meanwhile, Nirenberg, who was term-limited out of the mayor’s seat last year, is focused on improving public safety, creating more economic opportunity and forging stronger relationships with San Antonio’s suburbs.
The winner of the March 3 Democratic primary will take on Republican Patrick Von Dohlen, a thrice-failed District 9 City Council candidate who currently runs the conservative San Antonio Family Association PAC.
