Alamo Heights Night, a Fiesta staple since 1987, isn’t happening this year — and nobody’s saying why.
Word of the cancelation got around Tuesday after organizer the Alamo Heights Rotary Club posted online that the gathering was “paused” and wouldn’t take place April 17 as originally planned.
Alamo Heights Night is the club’s biggest annual fundraiser, pulling in nearly $2.5 million since its first installment, according to details shared by organizers.
Fiesta San Antonio Executive Director Steve Rosenauer confirmed the cancelation to TV station KSAT. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the University of the Incarnate Word — which has hosted Alamo Heights Night since 2014 — told the Express-News there are no plans to hold an alternative celebration.
The San Antonio Rotary Club didn’t immediately respond to the Current’s request for comment on the reason behind the cancellation. Fiesta San Antonio’s Rosenauer and the Incarnate Word official also declined to say why organizers scrapped the gathering.
We’ll let you Fiesta revelers know if any more clues come to light.
