District 1 Councilwoman Sukh Kaur is looking for a new chief of staff, according to a LinkedIn job listing

Kaur’s office didn’t immediately respond to the Current’s inquiries about the open position. However, at least three people familiar with City Hall politics have told the Current that Salts was planning an exit. Those people declined to be named out of concern for their jobs.

In June, San Antonio’s Ethics Review Board found that Kaur violated the city’s code of conduct by allowing Salts to campaign on her behalf while at a Lavaca Neighborhood Association meeting in an official city capacity.

At the time, Kaur said she believed her staff acted appropriately based on guidance they received from the city.

In a statement to the Current, Kaur thanked Salts for his service to the community, noting that he was behind several District 1 initiatives including the Shop Small Holiday Guide, ACS fencing and Music to Business pilot programs.

“After building a strong team, [Salts] shared he was ready to return to work outside of government,” Kaur said. “He leaves big shoes to fill and will truly be missed. I’m deeply grateful for his time and contributions.”

According to LinkedIn job listing, Kaur is looking for someone with five years’ experience in government, public policy or executive-level support. A bachelor’s degree is required, with a master’s preferred.

The salary range is $84,000 to $134,000.
