
Police have identified the suspect in a pair of stabbings at the San Antonio Zoo over the weekend.
Police charged Alexander Pena, 29, with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of assault causing bodily injury and one count of interfering with an emergency request for assistance after he allegedly stabbed two people in front of the zoo on Saturday, the Express-News reports.
Pena was fighting with another person at around 6:15 p.m. when two bystanders, one 42 years old and the other 18, tried to break up the scuffle, according to a preliminary police report obtained by the daily.
When the two bystanders intervened, Pena took out a knife and stabbed both men, police said, according to the Express-News.
The injured men were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, Pena remains in police custody as of press time on $160,000 bail.
