Authorities arrested a Universal City private-school band teacher Thursday on charges of indecency with a child and child grooming, according to the Express-News

Stephen Strawn, an instructor at First Baptist Academy near Randolph AFB, was arrested on charges stemming from a Feb. 11 incident with a student, the paper reports, citing Universal City records. The 50-year-old was being booked into Bexar County Jail as of the report.

In a statement to the Express-News, First Baptist Church and First Baptist Academy Lead Pastor Ryan Gilbert said the campus learned of the allegations when Child Protective Services visited on March 16 to conduct an investigation. Gilbert said the school immediately put Strawn on administrative leave and is cooperating with authorities.

“We are also working to provide appropriate care and support for students, families and staff affected by this situation,” Gilbert told the Express-News.

The Universal City Police Department is continuing its investigation and urges anyone with knowledge of the case or Strawn to contact Detective Lieutenant Daniel Carmona at dcarmona@ucpdtx.org, the paper reports.
